The best of ethical fashion!
MUUDANA’s rigorous approach aims at selecting the better environmental and social options at all stages.
The Top Apsara is therefore much more than just a top. It allows women accross the world to live a dignified and independent life. It preserves the environment and fights against climate change while consuming few resources. It fights for sustainable development by preserving know-how and traditional communities.
Fair tailoring
The Apsara Top is sewn in a fair and family clothing workshop named “Fairsew” and based in Phnom Penh. This offers seamstresses a living wage, respectful working conditions, a fulfilling environment and regular training.
This ethical clothing workshop is a member of Fashion Revolution Cambodia .
To learn more about the women who make your clothes, you cancheck out this Sopheak interview , workshop chief at Fairsew .
You can alsoread this article on the different social businesses, NGOs, and social entrepreneurs with whom MUUDANA works.
Traditional fabrics
The Apsara top is partly made of hand woven wild silk according to traditional methods. Manual weaving is an art in distress that MUUDANA wishes to protect. This ancestral technique is passed down from mother to daughter for centuries. But fast-fashion endangers these delicate but expensive traditional skills.
MUUDANA works with local NGOs to preserve this traditional know-how . The silk is hand-woven on wooden looms. All the silk weavers live in small villages in the Cambodian countryside . MUUDANA’s orders enable them to get a comfortable additional income, to preserve their textile culture, and to work comfortably from home.
Dyes are all made manually with products non-toxic . That is to say that they do not release any substance that could be harmful for the environment.

Natural fibers
Out of ecological conviction, MUUDANA only works with natural fibers, ie cotton, linen, silk, hemp.
When it is possible, MUUUDANA uses organic cotton . If it is more relevant, as in the case with the Apsara top, up-cycled cotton is privileged. This upcycled cotton comes from the end of stock of local industry . These are excess material, available locally. There is no transport between the fabric and the clothing workshop.
MUUDANA does not use polyester because this material releases micro-particles in the washing water which subsequently pollutes the oceans. It is a rigorous ethical choice, which we hope you will appreciate.
Eco-design & Environment
Did you know that when making a garment, 15 to 20% of the fabric is thrown in the trash, which causes a huge waste of natural resources.
This is not the case at MUUDANA!
All the fabric scraps are collected, sorted, kept to create new products later.
So we recently launched a range of up-cycled accessories made with fabric scraps from the making of MUUDANA clothes. These pouches are made fairly by a local NGO”Friends International” which supports the reintegration of marginalized families.
Why not combine your top with the matching clutch? This is the case with large format fair and up-cycled pouch , partially made with fabric scraps from the Apsara top.
Finally, your MUUDANA purchases will be delivered in fully recyclable packaging and designed to use a minimum of natural resources.
Instead of the traditional tissue paper, your item will be packed in a reusable cloth bag . Made with scraps of fabric, you can use this pretty bag as a washing bag or a storage bag.
Ethics AND style!
The Apsaras are the enchanting nymphs of the temples of Angkor . In mythology, they charm the wise with their elegant dances and unrivalled beauty. The design of the Apsara top is inspired by the traditional Apsara costume.
This top will be a valuable asset at all times. As a casual look over jeans or a chic look with black pants and heels. It goes perfectly with the Indra pants and the Amrita skirt. Lined, it is not transparent and can be worn inside or outside pants.
It is available in four colors: white, black, peach and green.
Its collar is hand-woven wild silk. It’s THE detail that changes everything and makes this piece unique! The rest is very soft and made of up-cycled cotton. A small coconut button in the neck closes the neckline.
This top is 0% plastic!
